About Us

The most common questions we get are, "Why an RV park?"  followed by, "Why would you leave California for Kentucky?"  Years ago I would have had the same reaction; but life changes people and their perceptions on life.  The realization that to live in CA means you are either working to pay the mortgage and sitting in traffic to get to or from work, and family life is not really what it should be.  For years we have bounced around the idea of buying a marina, even visited Aurora 4 yrs ago while on a trip; since we both love the outdoors and people we thought this would be a great way to live.  A family tragedy rekindled the idea that life needs to be lived and not merely tolerated, so the search effort was back on to find a place for us to call home, finish raising kids and make some new friends while taking care of business. California has been home for Kathy for 22yrs and 6yrs for Mike, but, Kathy is originally from Long Island NY, and Mike is from Salem, Or.  We new that we wanted to move east, looked at Tennessee, NC and Kentucky as viable options, found Aurora Oaks in Kentucky and fell in love with the place.  Between us we have 5 children (only 2 are still teens!) Both of us has served in the military, Mike in the Army and Kathy in the Navy; and we would do it again in a heartbeat. 

We are blessed to have Karen, Mikes baby sister,  here to help run the park~ she is unstoppable, and wonderful.  Karen is also originally from Oregon, but was living in Georgia prior to coming to Kentucky to help us out.  Karen's husband, Ramon, has found work in the area and has made the move out from Georgia, we are glad to have him around.
